AMERICA VOTES 2008- THE PRIMARIES

By Namakando Nalikando Sinyama, B.Sc Forestry,BAHRM

What is currently happening in the democratic party presidential nomination elections is undoubtedly going to make the world see America in a totally different light. What it tells me particularly, is that, contrary to my previously held beliefs about the reported social injustices of old, especially as regards race relations which we have been made to believe still exist in America, America’s democracy has indeed come of age. Regardless of what really happens at the end of it all, Senator Obama’s countrywide appeal is a milestone in itself that should largely be credited to the younger generation that I see slowly causing the older generation to have the confidence to shift their mindsets of old for the benefit of true progress and universal peace. Let not The Obama Campaign Team fall to the temptation of gravitating towards segmenting American society for the sake of votes into green, purple, Left-wing, Right- wing,Men,Women, Youths, The aged, democrat or republican electorates. This is being done by the candidates openly calling on voters on ethnic lines such as overtly targeting Latinos/Hispanics and the African Americans, all for the sake of individual votes at the expense of party strength. What we should never loose track of as democrats the world over is that there are a lot more other ethnicities in our communities in varying numbers. When these are not directly addressed during the campaigns they may few increasingly alienated. Both candidates would do well to re-visit their focus because ultimately for the party to stand a better chance of winning against Senator McCain it has to cut across American society and appeal to the general citizenry. Let it represent the future of an America that every citizen will be proud of regardless of his or her disposition. The world will now know that America truly presents all fair-minded hard working and peace loving individuals on the Planet an equal opportunity for success in their endeavours. Indeed a real beacon of hope to the world. Yes, there are still some people in certain sections of American society who, of course within their rights, hold strong racist sentiments but these have and will be over powered by the divine good will, respect and justice for all encoded in the human genome everywhere.
“ There is NO Force on earth that is more powerful than an EVENT whose time has come.” It even makes the force of a trillion mega-tonne bombs seem like firecrackers!” – We are watching you America with deep felt adoration!!

To be president is no longer about having been a member of some university fraternity or secret organisation. You just have to prove yourself ready to muster the mettle, rise to the challenge regardless of the seemingly insurmountable and obvious odds that may be stuck against you. Rise and perpetuate the legacy of greatness that is not of your own creation as an individual citizen but one handed over to you by your nation’s founding fathers. This is a true depiction of the American character worthy of envy. Its time the greatest nation in the world won back its lost glory; let countries of the world look back at the USA as a just and fair and strong power without necessarily waging irresponsible expansionist wars. This I say with the full knowledge of the existence of the over-head dangling proverbial ‘Sword Of Damocles’ as personified by socially divisive entities such as the ‘Cu Clux Cans’,The ‘Cranial & Osteo-Blocks’ or certain lobby groups that have been spawning a foreign policy that blindly supports occupationist forces blocking the way to true lasting peace, co-existence and mutual respect between factions who are otherwise brothers. These organisations are lurking in the shadows and scheming to influence the outcome these elections thus hatch out injustice-the cycle will continue.

I would like to find out whether it is possible for people like myself who are not even American citizens to donate towards The Obama Campaign. There is a lot of interest in what is happening in America the world over. Senator Obama, to me, seems like a reasonable man who represents a true hope for stability and peace on the planet. He does not strike me as a President that would be too quick to send jet fighters or position and deploy Carriers in the Gulf. He would safe guard homeland security not as a rogue leader going about hanging leaders of foreign sovereign states even if they were dictators. The eternal democratic guiding principle is to let the citizens of those countries oust their despotic regimes through a democratic, internationally monitored ballot. It is utterly unfair and irresponsible of future American leaders to leave a legacy that would make the world hate American children for NO fault of theirs. I do have a strong fear that despite the apparent candidate mutual good will during the campaigns, the Party might emerge from these nominations a wee bit ruffled. Therefore, The Democratic party might have to brace itself for some serious damage control afterwards. To illustrate, will Hillary supporters after having lost the nomination be readily available to support Senator Obama or will Obama supporters be there to support Hillary if Obama lost during the general election against Senator McCain after the November general elections?

N.B. Kindly remind America of the sanctity of the institution of marriage and that a married Man and Woman, Woman and Woman, Man and Man are actually ONE and the same person in word and in deed. Therefore if one family has ruled before, then in all logic should give room to a new family to rule for the sake and benefit of the National progress and not retardation. Unless of course there were some extra ordinary achievements they made which need to be desperately replicated!
